Meet Cindy Entrekin, Owner of New Perspectives Counseling | Morris Bernards Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. I have lived in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia at various times over the years. We moved to Chester last summer from Greenville, SC and this is my first time living in the Northeast.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

A daughter who is 14 years old.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I am an adrenaline junkie! I love roller coasters and fast things. For one of my birthday celebrations, I went skydiving in Las Vegas – it was amazing!

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Definitely my friends and family – both moms and non-moms who help me through the challenging times and celebrate with me during the good times. My husband is also an incredible source of support in my life and our daughter’s.

Favorite things to do with your kids?

We love to listen to music, play with our dogs, and watch movies. Laughing is so important to us- being able to not take yourself and life so seriously all of the time is crucial to your well-being.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

My business, New Perspectives Counseling, offers online (video) and face-to-face therapy sessions. I am also available for speaking engagements and psycho-educational training for schools and businesses. I have an office in Chester, NJ and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in NJ and SC. One of my specialities is in life transition – which Moms experience plenty of!

Volunteer wise, when I lived in Greenville I was involved with the Upstate Warrior Solution, an incredible organization supporting veterans and their families. Locally, I am in the process of trying to restart the Girls on the Run program at Bragg Elementary in Chester. It is an amazing organization that all communities can benefit from. I am proud to say I will be running the Marine Corps Marathon in October to benefit the Girls on the Run charity.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

This community has received my family with open arms. I have been so inspired and touched by the warmth and friendliness of the people I have met. Being surrounded by people who support my endeavors in business and personally is such a blessing when you are experiencing major life changes.
