Meet Allie Lasota from Zumbini with Allie! | Morris Bernards Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I moved to New Providence 3 years ago when I had my daughter Anya. Prior to that I lived in
Westfield for 10 years. I have always lived in Union County and my husband is a Morris County
guy so New Providence was our “halfway” point

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have a 3-year-old daughter, Anya and a 14 year old step son Nick. I also have a senior cat,
William and a toy pom, Bear.

Favorite things to do with your kids?
We love going to the Library, crafting, making smoothies, baking ANYthing and dancing! We
are always telling Alexa to play JLo or Pitbull radio and we dance around the kitchen and get
super silly. We love music in our house, whether its dancing, singing and playing the piano and
guitar with daddy.

Are you involved in a business venture or corporate world? Please Share!
I do work a corporate 9-5 job, but my passion is my Zumbini with Allie business that I started
just a year ago. I couldn’t believe that a program like this didn’t exist in New Providence and I
knew immediately I had to do something about it. It started out with me hosting a Saturday
morning Zumbini time class to allow caregivers to bond with their little ones (infants and
toddlers). Within a years’ time, I now have 3 instructors on board, expanded to 2 studio
locations in New Providence, started offering Zumba Kids classes for older kids and offering
LOTS of Birthday Parties! It has been a blast! I love sharing my love of music and bringing
families together.

If you could give one tip to fellow Mom Entrepreneurs what would it be?
I attend lots of seminars and networking events and the best piece of advice that I take very
seriously is “don’t scale too fast” and “value your time”. If digital media advertising is not your
thing, its ok, just hire someone to help you. You must realize that your time may be better spent
elsewhere.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I have my 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and I was a personal trainer/fitness instructor for
10 years.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive, thank you. I am grateful for all the local
businesses who have partnered with me to either hand out flyers, blog about me, organize a
promotion, let me use their space or donated gift cards for my events. Special thanks to all the
families who constantly spread the word of mouth around the community and continue to come
to class on a weekly basis. Thank you all!!
